Two Documentaries Win Telly Awards

Two documentaries from Witnessing History, with sound design by Neil Kesterson of Dynamix Productions, have won awards at the 30th annual Telly Awards.

“Retreat from Gettysburg,” a documentary about General Lee’s retreat after defeat, won a Silver in the Film/Video division.

“Bourbon and Kentucky: A History Distilled” won a Bronze, also in the Film/Video division.

According to a press release from Witnessing History, “Out of more than 13,000 nominations, Retreat From Gettysburg was selected by industry professionals as being in the top ten percent of all DVD/Film productions in the nation. The Bronze Telly Award presented to Bourbon and Kentucky signified it being in the top fifteen percent of DVD/Film productions in the nation.”

All three of Witnessing History’s DVDs (also including “Long Road Back to Kentucky” have won Telly Awards.

Both documentaries have been broadcast on Kentucky Educational Television (KET).

Writer, host, and Civil War historian Kent Masterson Brown takes viewers onto the battlefield and into Lee’s mind in “Gettysburg.” In “Bourbon,” Brown explores historic distilleries, explains the distilling process, and reveals why bourbon is called “bourbon” and not whiskey. Both documentaries were photographed and edited by Post Time Productions in Lexington, KY. Neil Kesterson of Dynamix Productions was sound designer.
